The new ECNU Laboratory Animal Center was built in the Minhang Campus in 2020, with a barrier area of 8,000M2 and a total space of 12,000M2. The facility is designed mainly to house rats and mice, with a capacity of about 16,000 cages. This specific pathogen-free (SPF) animal facility has been granted with the permissions of animal usage and breeding from relevant governmental agencies (License number SYXK(Shanghai) 2020-0015). The Laboratory Animal Center is responsible for providing services including animal breeding and maintenance, animal experiments and general teaching and training or both research and teaching. In addition, it also possesses strong technical capabilities in genetic modification of animals, animal strain derivation, and animal strain conservation. To support the research and development of multiple disciplines at ECNU, animal-related services provided by the Laboratory Animal Center include animal experiments, animal production, animal feeding and maintenance management, assisted reproductive technology, strain conservation and the import and export of laboratory animals.
