This Hospital was initially established in 1911. It was founded by Mr. Jian Zhang, a patriotic entrepreneur. After the establishment of Nantong University in 2004, it was thereafter named as the Nantong University Affiliated Hospital. At present, it serves not only as a medical center, but also as a comprehensive teaching hospital, and a research-oriented hospital under a comprehensive university. It is a high-level medical service highland with regional influence in the northern wing of the Yangtze River Delta and the coastal economic belt. In 1994, it was among the first batch to be rated as a tertiary first-class comprehensive hospital, and in 1998, it was designated as a network hospital of the International Emergency Rescue Center. The West campus area currently has 2478 beds open. The East campus area will have 2,500 beds. In 2023, the total number of outpatient and emergency visits was 2.8064 million, the number of discharged patients was 159,000, the number of inpatient surgeries was 68,000. There are currently more than 4,000 employees, including one academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 885 with senior professional titles, 21 the State Council -recognized experts, 41 doctoral supervisors and 383 master supervisors.
